We emphasize the details and discipline required for sustained research. The small group environment encourages both independent work habits and community-building skills, while our 2-to-1 faculty-to-student ratio makes our students among the best mentored in the province. Our students benefit from robust and diverse faculty expertise, and are free to engage in research of their own design. The program is designed to be completed by full-time students in 12 months. Classes begin in September and run until April. Mandatory courses provide valuable foundations in literary and cultural theoretical approaches, advanced research skills, and professional development, while specialist seminars led by faculty experts engage with cutting-edge topics in the field. Following two terms of course work, students complete a research project of their own design by the end of August.
